Silvio Riolo was a partner at Grimaldi e Associati from 1997 to 2001 and at Clifford Chance from 2001 to 2009. In 2009, together with Paolo Calderaro and Michele Crisostomo, he founded Studio Legale RCC (now Cappelli RCCD).
He has assisted leading Italian and foreign financial institutions in landmark litigation proceedings (including cross-border proceedings) concerning market abuse, derivatives, CBOs/CDOs and other structured finance securities, all of which have regulatory ramifications and crucial internal investigation profiles.
He is an expert in advising financial institutions on banking, insurance and financial regulatory matters, both during the structuring of new transactions and in civil litigation and sanction proceedings before the competent supervisory authorities.
Silvio has particular extensive experience in financial derivatives matters (including EMIR regulation and ISDA documentation) as well as in advising on the regulation of investment services (MiFID) and the regulation of market abuse (insider dealing and manipulation).
He also advises his clients on sustainable finance starting from the initial stages of this new regulatory area. He is a regular speaker at courses and conferences on banking and finance law.
